Yes, long time no news - at least here, there's been some in the forum...
First of all, in case you didn't notice, there are new beta versions of MortButtons (also updated and uploaded a skinning manual) and MortScript.
MortButtons didn't get many new features as such, but better support of buttons (like "OK" to leave it) and images (e.g. transparency/alpha channel support for skins, images in PNG, JPG, GIF, BMP and ICO format as icon replacement).
MortScript got an improved parser (should be faster in many cases), support of local variables and functions, multi level arrays, several new functions, better PNA compatibility, some bugfixes, and so on.
And yes, MortPlayer's been abandoned for quite a while, I hope to get to it soon. MortPlayer's got the disadvantage it's become a very complex product, so I can't just add some small features as easy as with my other projects. Additionally, it utilizes many system near functions, which many new manufacturers don't seem to care about supporting correctly anymore. So, sorry if some features don't work on your device, but Microsoft doesn't enforce unified support of such important features like application button support, screen toggle, backlight and volume control, A2DP/AVRCP support, and so on. And with every new device it gets worse and drivers become even more buggy (the device is sold until you realize it one day, so who cares whether you're able to use all features?).
I also finally got around to upload the MortPlayer sources. You need a subversion client like Tortoise, then check out the source from
Repository location: svn://sto-helit.de/MortPlayer/trunk
Login: guest
Password: guest
Note this is just read only access, if you want to commit changes, please write me your desired login and password (with the current solution, I have no way to let it enter you, so please don't use one you don't like to share with me...).
Sources are also available for some basic libraries I use for other applications (and plan to use in MortPlayer) at svn://sto-helit.de/MortTools/trunk (just read only, because this is too sensitive for uncontrolled changes, but you're free to use the code and libraries for your own projects), and MortScript (login on request) at svn://sto-helit/MortScript/trunk, the latter with a limited license: You're free to use concepts and smaller parts of the code in
your programs (e.g. the variables hashmap, how to get the current
process, and such), but you may notuse it as template for an own interpreter or expression parser. (Of
course you may use the general concept, I don't think it's something
really new anyway, but I don't wan't any derivates spreading about and cause confusion and incompatibilities.)
Finally, I wanted you to know MortScript and MortPlayer are nominees at PocketPC Magazine's 2007 Best Software Award.
(I wonder when MortButtons will make it. Spb Mobile Shell brought some notice to this concept. I just wonder why everyone's so exited about Spb Menu when MortButtons does similar things and much more since several years...)
